Getting Started FAQ

Below we've listed answers to some commonly asked questions about starting Pilates at our studio. We've just started this FAQ, so it's not very long, but if you have any additional questions please email info@perthpilatesstudio.com and we'll do our best to help!

How do I choose between studio and group (floor and circuit) classes?

If you have any siginificant injuries or pain in your body, studio classes are your best option to begin. Studio lessons are taught in a highly personalised way. This means they can be specifically tailored to meet your rehabilitation concerns. Group classes (such as our circuit and floor classes) are designed with generally healthy bodies in mind. For a healthy person they offer great benefits, but they may contain some exercises which could aggravate a pre-existing injury.

If you don't have any injuries the choice is up to you. If you'd like access to the full range of Pilates repertoire, including equipment and floor-based work, choose studio or circuit classes over floor. If you'd like the fastest possible results, choose a personalised studio program in preference to our group floor or circuit classes.

Finally, consider what suits you best in terms of cost and time. Group classes are cheaper but you are restricted to a set class timetable. Studio classes are more expensive but offer far greater flexibility as you book them in at times that suit you.

What do I need to bring to class? What should I wear?

We provide all the equipment you need when you attend class, including mats. All you need to do is wear comfortable exercise clothes (such as leggings and a t-shirt or tracksuit pants and a t-shirt) and bring a clean pair of socks. Many clients also like to bring a water bottle.

In addition, clients attending studio lessons are requested to bring a bath-size towel to use when lying on the equipment.

How do I book into classes?
